Grand Central Birmingham


Birmingham is at the heart of the UK rail network and a transport hub for people travelling throughout the UK. The newly redeveloped New Street Station alone has the capacity for 52 million passengers a year. 

Services from New Street Station also provide quick access to Birmingham International – Birmingham Airport’s own station stop.

New Street Station

Sitting at the hub of the National Rail network, Birmingham's newly redeveloped New Street Station is the busiest interchange station in the UK with a train leaving the station every 37 seconds. As part of this new development, the newly opened shopping centre Grand Central Birmingham is located above the station. 

1,250 trains travel through the platforms each day taking you across the UK with regular services to London Euston, Manchester, Liverpool, the North West and Scotland.


Moor Street Station

Just six minutes walk from New Street Station; Moor Street station serves local lines to Stratford upon Avon and Kidderminster but also has direct services to London Marylebone via the Chilterns route.

The Grade II listed station has now been restored to its former glory after undergoing a major restoration in the early 2000’s.

Snow Hill Station & Midland Metro

Sited within the Colmore business district, Snow Hill Station serves local trains to Solihull and Worcester together with Stratford upon Avon and London Marylebone. Services operate up to every ten minutes at peak times making journey times easy and accessible.

The Midland Metro runs from Wolverhampton to Birmingham, so it’s perfect for getting to Bilston, Wednesbury, West Bromwich, The Hawthorns and the Jewellery Quarter. The network has recently been extended Grand Central at New Street Station – perfect for connecting to the city centre more easily. High Speed 2

The proposed High Speed 2 is a railway that will link Birmingham to London, the East Midlands, Leeds, Sheffield and Manchester - significantly reducing the travel time between each location. Currently, the average journey time from Birmingham New Street to London is 1 hour 24 minutes which will reduce to 49 minutes on HS2 - taking off 40% from the journey time.

The arrival of HS2 is expected to act as a catalyst generating an additional £4 billion in economic output across the West Midlands bringing an additional 50,000 jobs.

HS2 in Birmingham will be served by a station at Curzon Street in the city centre and by an interchange station adjacent to Birmingham Airport and the National Exhibition Centre.
